The Strength of Piling Sheet Steel
1. High workability
Can lessen number of sheets to be used for the same construction length compared to conventional U profile sheet pile (ordinary size: effective width 400mm, 600mm) for its wide max effective width of 900mm.
M profile has higher rigidity than U profile so it can provide higher efficiency & safety when doing deep driving construction.
2.Lessen water leakage
With max width of 900mm, it can drastically lessen the number of joints at the same construction length, leading to drastic decrease in water leakage.
We made M profile sheet pile sets its main usage target on permanent structure at rivers. Its joint has little gap, leading to higher cut-off performance compared to U profile.
3. Buckling strength
We designed a new section with a rib, by taking into consideration the vertical direction external force against sheet pile. This leads to drastic improvement in its buckling strength.
This buckling strength was designed by using "Finite strip method" (strength over steel material compressive strength) and analyzing specific data.
4.Workability
Compared to U profile, M profile takes little more time when driving in. But considering the difference in cross sectional area & interlocking condition, it can be concluded that M profile has much higher driving workability.
It was also proven that shortening of construction period is possible, due to the fact that effective width of M profile is 1.4~1.5 times and driving time is 1.3 times that of U profiles.
5.Stable structure
Longitudinal shearing force occurs at the neutral axis of sheet pile's continuous wall, when the wall receives horizontal force.
At such moments, there is a possibility of U profile breaking away since its joint is located at the neutral axis, meaning that the cross sectional performance of continuous wall may deteriorate. But M profile doesn't have its joint located at the neutral axis, so it won't be affected by any shearing force. This means that sheet pile itself will have no cross sectional performance deterioration occurring by bending deformation and can create a continuous wall with high stability at various conditions.
